2019 Kevin Coombs Cup Selection Trials announced

BASKETBALL Victoria is excited to announce a talented team of wheelchair athletes will represent Victoria at the Kevin Coombs Cup (KCC) 2019 to be held in Townsville, Queensland.

Led by head coach Ben Hodgens and assistant coach Jason Bryant, the Victorian Junior Wheelchair Team will compete in the competition over 4 days from 17-20 April 2019.

This opportunity to represent Victoria as an elite athlete is available to both male players under the age of 23 and female players under the age of 25 – this is in line with the U23 Men and U25 Women Australian teams.

To be eligible for the team, athletes would need to be born on or after:

Men – 01/01/1997 (under 23 years of age in 2019)

Women – 01/01/1995 (under 25 years of age in 2019)

The Kevin Coombs Cup team will be selected after tryout sessions. These sessions aim to determine the skill level, team fit and development potential of athletes, by undertaking training drills as directed by the coaches.

Selections will be made by the coaching staff after the try-out sessions, with considerations to a variety of factors including to, but not limited to:  wheelchair basketball ability, experience, point classification and how athletes can contribute to the team effort.
