Metro/Country Border

An athletes will represent a Victorian State team based on their domicile. If they are domiciled in a postcode gazetted as Country then they will be eligible to play for Victoria Country, if they are domiciled in a postcode gazetted as Metro then the athlete will be eligible to represent Victoria Metro.

A detailed policy outlines athlete eligibility in full however key points to summarise are as follows:

  • a grandfather clause exists for those athletes who are currently representing either a country or metro region erroneously by the new defined boundaries
  • the starting point of athlete classification is the U12 age group for country athletes and U14 age group for metro athletes
  • the eligibility boundaries policy will be implemented from 1 January 2016
