CALLING all junior wheelchair basketballers in Victoria!
We are pleased to announce the Victorian Kevin Coombs Cup (KCC) team tryout and development series for November and December. These sessions will be held at the State Basketball Stadium in Wantirna South and Eagle Stadium in Werribee.
The sessions will be run by the 2020 Victorian KCC coaching staff – Head Coach Ben Hodgens and Assistant Coaches Jason Bryant and Kim Hampton.
The 2020 Victorian Kevin Coombs Cup (KCC) will be selected from participants at these sessions. Therefore, anyone interested in representing Victoria in the 2020 Kevin Coombs Cup, held in Ballarat in April 2020, must attend these sessions. To be considered for the 2020 KCC team, players must attend a minimum of 3 of the 4 sessions.
To be eligible for the KCC team, athletes would need to be born on or between:
Men – 01/01/1998 – 31/12/2006 (Between 14 and under 23 years of age)
Women – 01/01/1996 – 31/12/2006 (Between 14 and under 25 years of age)
KCC team selection will be determine based on a range of considerations including, but not limited to: wheelchair basketball ability, experience, point classification as well as how athletes can contribute to the team effort.

Sunday 17 November – State Basketball Centre: 12.30pm – 2.30pm
Sunday 24 November – Eagle Stadium: 12pm – 2pm
Sunday 1 December – Eagle Stadium: 12.30pm – 2.30pm
Sunday 8 December – State Basketball Centre: 12.30pm – 2.30pm
These sessions will cover a range of wheelchair basketball skills including, but not limited to chair skills, ball-handling, endurance, shooting, and team offence and defence.
All players must bring:
- Appropriate basketball gear, including a reversible light and dark playing singlet
- No state or national attire
- A basketball
- A drink bottle
- Their own sports wheelchair
