Due to current restrictions on basketball within Regional Victoria, Basketball Victoria has unfortunately had to cancel the Country Junior Domestic Championships (CJDCs) scheduled to be held in Geelong on 2-3 October 2021.
While the announcement of easing of restrictions in regional Victoria is a pleasing step towards basketball returning to full competition, we are currently unable to host any indoor basketball tournaments and have the venue capacity required to host the CJDCs.
Basketball in Regional Victoria can currently only operate under Orange-20 conditions, which only allows for outdoor training and doesn’t permit any indoor venue usage or community sport to operate competitions and tournaments.
While this is a disappointing outcome to have the tournament cancelled for the second year in a row, Basketball Victoria will work to ensure the Country Junior Domestic Championships will run in 2022 across the weekend of 1-2 October 2022 in Geelong.
