2021 Gold Nugget Camp invited players announced

Basketball Victoria would like to congratulate the 252 Country under-14 athletes on their selection for the upcoming 2021 Gold Nugget Camp.

Country Victorian athletes have been selected from this year’s Under-14 Academy Program with 252 girls and boys selected to attend the camp at Bendigo Stadium on 13 November (boys) and 14 November (girls).

The camp will be run with the health and safety of all attendees, coaches and families in mind, with all guidelines from the Chief Health Officer and Victorian Government to be implemented (full details to come).

Our players are out to impress, as the best at the camp will be picked for selection to the 2022 Country Metro Challenge, which will replace the teams usually selected for the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup (ACJBC) and Southern Cross Challenge (SCC) due to these tournaments being cancelled.

A number of star Australian representatives including Dyson Daniels, Jack White, Tessa Lavey, Maddie Garrick, Jade Melbourne, Jaz Shelley and Matthew Dellavedova, have attended these camps as part of their Country pathway journeys.

“We’re excited to see athletes return to the court and be part of the 2021 Gold Nugget Camp,” Basketball Victoria General Manager – High Performance and Pathway Grant Wallace said. “These camps form the foundation of future success at the Victorian and Australian level with plenty of Australian representatives such as Matthew Dellavedova and Tessa Lavey attending the camp to start their elite basketball careers.

“We’re excited to get our Country stars back on court with the Gold Nugget Camp and help them reach for their biggest basketball ambitions.”

All dates are subject to restrictions across Victoria being eased by 8 November. Full venue and COVID protocols will be provided before the start of the camp.
