Entries are now open for the 2021 Basketball Victoria Junior Country Domestic Championships, to be held in Geelong on 2-3 October 2021.
Basketball Victoria are proud to announce Geelong as the host of the 2021 (and 2022) Country Junior Domestic Championships.
After the Covid-19 pandemic saw the event canceled in 2020, it is exciting to see the return of this event with several domestic teams expressing interest to attend.
“We are thrilled to take this event to Geelong for the next two years, utilising Geelong United’s newly built, basketball specific AWA Alliance Bank Stadium,” Basketball Victoria Leagues, Events and Statistics Administrator Matt Royal expressed.
“This event allows domestic teams from across all country associations to compete against one another. Domestic teams of the same age come together on a blockbuster weekend with clubs battling it out to win The Max Bowman Memorial Shield,” explained Royal.
Geelong United CEO Mark Neeld is excited for the local Geelong area to play a part in continuing to bring basketball back to life after a stop-start twelve months.
“Geelong United Basketball is thrilled to partner with Basketball Victoria to host both the 2021 and 2022 Country Junior Domestic Basketball Championships. We are looking forward to providing the opportunity for community junior participants from all over Victoria to come together and compete right here in Geelong. We will also be partnering with the City of Greater Geelong to endeavour to showcase what the Geelong area has to offer our visitors,” Neeld said.
